WHAT IS ADBLUE?

ADBLUE is a liquid made up of deionized water with 32.5% urea. For several years, it has provided a real solution to the problem of gas emissions that are harmful to the environment, which is why the objective of ADBLUE is to transform NOx particles into nitrogen and water vapour.

In the case of heavy vehicles and therefore forestry machinery, ADBLUE is necessary to exceed emission regulations. The use of said compound reduces up to 90% of the nitrogen oxide emissions produced during its operation.

WHAT IS THE OPERATION OF ADBLUE IN THE ENGINE?

ADBLUE is injected into the exhaust duct once the gases have left the engine and there it reacts with the water in the solution to become ammonia.

This ammonia enters a catalyst where it reacts with the nitrogen oxides that make up the exhaust emissions to convert them into nitrogen and water vapor that will later be expelled.

Due to the fact that the additive is inserted into the exhaust gases, diesel engines have a certain consumption of ADBLUE and therefore must be refueled regularly.

ADBLUE SHORTAGE

The shortage of ADBLUE in 2021 threatens forestry activities in Spain since the demand for the additive has also skyrocketed in the transport sector.

This fact is the result of the rise in ADBLUE prices as a consequence of the cessation of the productive activity of its factories. Based on the increase in the value of gas, it is estimated that the rise in imports will record historical figures.

What would happen if I ran out of ADBLUE? The answer to the question is simple, if your machine reports a low level of ADBLUE and does not meet that need; the engine will not restart once you turn it off. In this way your forestry activity will be interrupted, damaging both your machine and your production levels.
